The lessons in this book, and many other from Pema Chodron are full of insight and help me to see myself for who I am. I was reading this before bed the other night and my boyfriend looked at me, very concerned, and asked "do you think things are falling apart." To which I replied no. I don't think your world has to be crumbling for you to have to read this, but when things do, you might be able to remember something from this book and feel just a little better.
I credit it with reframing my attitude towards my loss. I was given this book as my 34 year old husband was dying of cancer. I have returned to several sections since his death as reminders about living in the present and not letting outside circumstances strip away inner joy.
This CD got me through a tough spot when my mom died and other bad things where going wrong in my life.
Did she forget the reason I began to see her. However, if you are a realist or want the hard truth you'll find it here. My therapist recommended that I read this book. If you're looking for encouragement or hope this book is not, and I repeat NOT for you.
So much sound advice and wisdom packed in easy to understand words and format. I heartily recommend for anyone who wants to get an enlightened perspective on the problem of living in this world. I was given the book as a present and then bought the CD so I could listen on ride to work. The issue here is putting what you are exposed to into practice.
